Volga Boatmen
Brothers,
Here is a clipping I thought should be included in the History of Alpha Theta. The date this picture appeared in the Morgantown paper was Nov. 3, 1950.
The evening of the party, which was held at the fraternity house, the Pikes escorted the ladies from their dorms to the Morgantown train station to meet Stalin. The fraternity had arranged for a Russian Orthodox Priest to come into town on the train. When he got off the train he made a short speech, in Russian, to the students. Then everyone went to the fraternity house for the party.
I remember borsch and "caviar" being served. I theink the "caviar" was made from tapioca, flavored with fish oil and colored with charcoal.. It tasted pretty awful.
Anyway, the party was a heck of a lot of fun.
